Jersey Mike’s, a national sub chain, offers some of the best sandwich options out there.
The Woodmere location across from the ETON mall is the perfect spot for Beachwood students to grab a quick and hearty sandwich.
This review is based on five important categories: taste, service, price, quality and speed, considering pace of meal preparation and convenience of location.
All five categories are rated out of 10 points, with a total score out of 50.
For this review I ordered a regular-sized #10 tuna sub on white bread with a bag of Miss Vickie’s jalapeno-flavored chips and a regular-sized (22 oz.) Pepsi rather than the 32 oz large.
Of course I ordered Mike’s Way, which is their signature style, meaning the sub comes with tomato, lettuce, onion and seasonings.
The subs can be completely customized with various toppings and sizes. The three size options include mini, regular and giant.
I’ll start with taste, since it’s most important. The tuna was fresh as were all of the toppings that blended well together; however, the sub was slightly messy as the toppings fell out into the wrapper underneath. The chips were fresh with a nice flavor, crispness and kick from the Jalapeno flavor.
However, the fountain drink was disappointing because they only offered Pepsi products, and I prefer Coca Cola. I was able to pivot and get a Pepsi that was cold and crisp, which was nice. After long and intensive thought the taste category earns an 8.2/10.
Next is service. Something to keep in mind is on this day and this location was very crowded while I was in the restaurant. However, the employees did a nice job at keeping the line moving while maintaining quality. They were nice, but not overly-friendly. The service category earned a 7.8/10.
Price is an important category for many high school students. The regular-sized sub cost $9.75, which is on the expensive side, but not terrible considering the quality.
Jersey Mike’s offers a combo deal where you can get a fountain drink and bag of chips for $4.29, which is a nice deal, bringing the overall price to $14.04, excluding tax. This is not the best deal, however it is still a good deal, bringing its score to a 8.1/10.
Our fourth category is quality. Jersey Mike’s is known for high-quality fresh proteins and vegetables. I found this to be true. All of the ingredients were prepared fresh and delicious. The only negative here was the fountain drinks not having Coca Cola products; however, the subs are most important. This category is what Jersey Mike’s specializes in, giving its quality rating a 9.2/10.
The last category is speed. This location is just under a 10-minute drive from BHS, which helps its rating. Despite a long line when I went, everything moved quickly thanks to efficient employees. The speed was very fast, under a 30 minute experience, leading to a rating of 8.8/10.
These scores bring the overall rating to 42.1/50, giving Jersey Mike’s an 84.2% rating, proving that Jersey Mike’s is a good option when looking for a tasty and efficient sub.
