Addams Family Spooks and Astonishes

Addams Family Spooks and Astonishes

The theater department delivered a magnificent performance with their adaptation of The Addams Family on Halloween weekend.

The show was directed by Johnathan Luster and Topher Helm.

The quality of the singing from the entire cast was truly impressive.

Act 1 closed with the song “One Normal Night,” sung by every cast member in the show, which was orchestrated and sung perfectly.

Some noteworthy singing performances came from Aidan Ward, who played the lead role as Gomez Addams, Rachel Kantarovich, who played Wednesday Addams and from Romi Balkan, who played Uncle Fester.

The audience enjoyed the humor in the show. Some of the most popular jokes were the out-of-pocket references to “Ohio” and “Ohioans.”

There were a few individual performances especially worthy of recognition.

First was Aidan Ward with the lead role, who perfected his impression of Gomez Addams. His mannerisms and his accent were perfect.

Another stellar performance was by senior Arielle Epstein, who played Morticia Addams. Epstein nailed all of her singing parts, and her tone of voice seemed to capture Morticia’s character.

Junior Zeynep Yazar was also impressive as Alice Beineke. Alice’s character is rather reserved throughout the show, except for the dinner scene at the end of Act 1, where she has a mental breakdown. Yazar performed this scene perfectly, especially for someone with such a quiet role throughout every other part of the show.

Last but most certainly not least was the outstanding performance by eighth grader J.D. Henz, who played as Pugsley Addams.

The show was more than worth the $5 admission fee. The theater program will be back on stage in the spring with their adaptation of The Little Mermaid.
