In the June 2019 incident, Jones tried to pull forward to escape since he was blocked in by a police car. Rogers later said that Jones ran over his foot. Rogers fired two shots into the car window. Jones pulled away and a chase ensued. Jones sideswiped two cars when exiting the Beachwood Place parking lot. Beachwood Police continued to chase Jones north to Richmond Heights before he fled the car and escaped on foot.
