Riley Strikes Out Ten Against Orange
The Bison baseball team is in a rebuilding year with only three returning starters and a brand new coaching staff.
Senior pitcher Chris Riley had an outstanding game against rival Orange on Monday, April 23 with 10 strikeouts.
In spite of Riley’s performance, the Bison sadly lost, as they were not able to turn it on offensively, achieving only 3 hits and zero runs.
The final score was 1-0. Nick Garofoli, the Lions shortstop, hit a hard ground ball towards Beachwood shortstop Spencer Sharp in the top of 7th inning.
Sharp was not able to make the play and it resolved in an error, spoiling Riley’s pitching shut out.
The Orange runner on second base scored, to take the 1-0 lead.
The Lions improved to a record of 7-5, and at publication the Bison are 1-12.
In the remaining games of the season, the Bison will face Geneva, Wickliffe, Fairport Harding, and they will finish the season against Kirtland where the game will be played at Kent State University.
