The Minority Achievement Committee (MAC) Scholars along with their advisers Gabrielle Greer-Jones and Chef Kortez Wilson led the Black History Month assembly on Thursday, Feb. 19.
The scholars made an effort to make the assembly interactive and engaging for the entire school.
“Everyone wanted to see a change in the MAC scholars, and that was seen in the assembly because we worked together and rehearsed,” junior Luke Warner said.
“It was a successful representation of Black history and black pride,” he added.
The assembly opened with a rendition of “Lift Every Voice and Sing," also known as the Black National Anthem. The lyrics were written in 1900 by James Weldon Johnson.
