The Bison wrestling team has had a great start to the 2025-2026 season. 

The first boys tournament was the Ron Madow Memorial tournament hosted at BHS on Dec. 6. Caleb Greenwood and Phoenix Peters placed first in their weight classes; Solomon Miklowski placed third; Ryan Ferns and Talmage Bang placed fifth and Kellen Finley placed sixth.  

This past weekend, the boys wrestling team competed at the Columbia and Keystone Classic invitationals, with 9 out of 10 wrestlers placing top three within their weight classes. 

“I think we’ve been having a good season so far. We have a young team, but they’ve been performing very well,” said co-captain Caleb Greenwood. 

The girls wrestling team has also had an outstanding performance. 

At the Michael Fording invitational, Brooklyn Pryor and Nyla White placed 1st for their weight classes, and Maya Webb and Judith Ng placed third. 

“[This season has] been going really well,” sophomore Mya Webb said. “Most members on the team have a winning record. As a team, we’ve definitely improved our shot defense skills.” 

While the Bison wrestling team has improved their performance, members are glad that team bonding has improved as well. 

“We’re definitely a lot closer this year than last year. We have more experienced members who are familiar with the sport, so that leaves less room for discovering what wrestling is and more for actually getting to know each other better,” senior Adam Hamzah said. 

“I’m really looking forward to our upcoming [meet], where both guys and girls will be wrestling. I’m confident we will do well at the CVCs—especially the girls,” said Webb.

The team is scheduled to wrestle at Perrysberg this weekend and then compete in the Bison Mega Duel at BHS on Feb. 17.
