Bison Heads Held High Through Homecoming Loss

The Bison faced the Brooklyn Hurricanes in the Homecoming game on Friday Sept. 26.

The bleachers were filled with supporting families, students and alumni. As the Homecoming spirit week came to a close, our supportive audience wore tropical themed outfits.

The marching band, cheerleaders and students section kept the morale high throughout the night, which made the game so memorable, notwithstanding the 24-0 loss.

Senior player Tristan Brown, however, noted that he was able to focus on the game in spite of the challenges.

“I’m never really impacted by anything,” he said. “I’m able to block out the noise when I’m on the field.”

The team fought hard until the very end, and made crucial defensive saves, showing moments of perseverance that caused the crowd to cheer.

The game featured key strategies, including a critical interception in the red zone that Brown identified as a turning point.

“If we scored there, or any of the four chances I had to score, the whole dynamic of the game would’ve changed,” he said.

Despite the effort, Brown described the night as “infuriating.”

“We lost to a [team with an 0-5 record going into the game] over dumb mistakes,” he said. “Everybody including me didn’t play to the best of their ability and it showed.”

Determined to notch their first win, the Bison face Cuyahoga Heights at home at 7:00 p.m. on Oct.10.
