Senior Josh Rosenblitt pitched a no-hitter against defending conference champs Kirtland Hornets May 15, resulting in a 3-0 Bison win.

The D1 commit to Oakland University struck out nine and walked only two, delivering a performance that got the fans excited while shocking the Hornets’ lineup.

“This was my fourth career high school no hitter but my first this year,” Rosenblitt said. “My mindset going into this game was to treat it like a playoff game and win at all costs, because it was my last tune-up on the mound before the playoffs.”

Rosenblitt started hot from the first pitch, giving the Hornets’ a mix of different speeds and locations to keep them guessing. The Bison offense gave him early run support, scoring twice in the third and adding another insurance run in the fifth.

“They are also a solid opponent, so I was excited for a good challenge,” Rosenblitt said. “It hit me in about the third inning I had a no-hitter. It then crossed my mind in the sixth and seventh inning as it became more and more of a realistic probability.”

However, the Hornets applied pressure to the Bison in the late innings, but the defense came through. Junior Ethan Malek and Sophomore Jonah Greller both made excellent plays up the middle in the sixth and seventh to preserve the no- hitter.

“Luckily I was able to finish strong, and have solid plays by Ethan Malek and Jonah Greller up the middle to save the no hitter,” Rosenblitt said.

With college baseball coming up for Rosenblitt, he is soaking in every moment.

“It means a lot, because that could be my last ever no-hitter,” Rosenblitt said. “So it’s cool to have that memory, and I am excited to be in the same conversation as some of those great players.”
