The boys tennis team has completed a successful season and ended with a record of 8-3, finishing 3rd in their division, only losing games to Hawken, Geneva and Orange.

This is a step up from last year when the team finished 4th in Northeast Ohio in Div. 2, beaten only by Orange, Hawken and University School. Beachwood was the 2nd place public school in Northeast Ohio Div. 2, an impressive feat considering Beachwood’s size.

After competing in the sectionals tournament at Medina Districts May 6-11, both junior Ethan Harmer and senior Landis Teren advanced to districts at the Springside Athletic Club in Akron on May 13-18 for singles.

David Cole, who coaches both Beachwood boys and girls varsity tennis and runs the Beachwood summer rec programs, has been coaching since 2011.

Cole spoke about the things he hopes athletes will take from his program.

“I want them to learn how to compete, learn to be competitive, to work hard for success, and learn to compete with integrity and do things the right way,” he said. “I also want them to build great memories from high school sports and have great friendships that will stay with them long after they leave the halls of Beachwood.”
