Along with advances in the team’s already strong pitching, batting accuracy, base running and aggressiveness, the coaches have increased effectiveness in the Bison’s offensive play style.

The Beachwood Bison Baseball team won their conference championship, a feat that has not been accomplished since 2014.

The season ended with a 5-2 loss to Norton in the district semifinal game, achieving a 15-11 record, 9-3 in conference play.

“The new coaching staff has definitely helped us,” pitcher Brett Zawatsky said. “They started the season off by giving us harder competition than we’d normally face… it’s not like we were playing these small teams that are struggling but playing these D1, D2, and state champ teams.”

Along with advances in the team’s already strong pitching, batting accuracy, base running and aggressiveness, the coaches have increased effectiveness in the Bison’s offensive play style. Through working on situations in which to hit or bunt the ball, the team has been able to score the runs they need.

Zawatsky also gave a shout out to first baseman Josh Rosenblitt for “coming out for his freshman year and shutting all these teams down.”

Although the team is losing several strong seniors who are graduating, they are confident about next year.

“The young core [the team] is starting to build up is going to make up for the loss,” Vincent Crenshaw said.
