The girls varsity soccer team won the first round of the playoffs on Monday, Oct. 16 by a commanding score of 6-0 over Columbia High School.

It was a slow start for both teams offensively, as the ball did not see the net for part of the first half.

That was until 20 minutes in when freshman Romi Roth scored a goal.

Roth put another one in the net later in the half.

Junior Carly Petti followed Roth by also scoring two goals, both coming in the first half as well.

Beachwood took control by halftime, leading Columbia 4-0.

Their dominance rolled over to the second half as the offense put up two more points.

Freshman Sydney Sarver sparked the second half for the Lady Bison by scoring a goal early on.

Another freshman, Leah Edwards, put the exclamation point on the team’s victory by scoring a goal in the final minute of the game.

Beachwood took home the win by a final score of 6-0.

Throughout their record-breaking season, the Lady Bison have had many games like the one last night.

The team showed that when it counts, they show up to play.

Their leadership and talented young core have proven a threat to other teams, as the playoffs are just beginning.

However, they still have much to prove as we are only through the first round of the postseason.

The Lady Bison continue their playoff run at home this Thursday, Oct. 18th at 7p.m. against Independence High School.
