Lady Bison End Season After Smithville’s Heartbreaking 3-Point Shot at Buzzer
On Saturday, March 8 the Lady Bison basketball team was literally seconds away from advancing to the state final four in Columbus.
It was an intense matchup between the Smithville Smithies and the Beachwood Bison. With the crowd behind them, it seemed the Bison would be victorious. In the final three minutes of the game, The Bison began stalling, trying to run down the clock. The Bison had a lead on Smithville 36-35 in the final seconds of this exciting game.
Aryana Jackson, who scored her 1000th high school point this game, made many key plays and led the Bison with 14 points. Mikah Aldridge finished with 7 points and Christina Oden added 8 more.
In what had to be one of the most outstanding high school plays of the season, Smithville’s Olivia Besancon dribbled down the court and threw up an incredible prayer of a shot that happened to go straight in from just beyond the 3-point line as the buzzer went off. In an instant, the Bison season was over with a loss to the Smithies 38-36.
