Boys Basketball Defeats Richmond Hts. 63-44
The Beachwood boys basketball team defeated the Richmond Hts. Spartans 63-44 last night, bringing the Bison to a 15-2 record. The AP state basketball poll continues to rank the team #2 in the state for Division III.
At home on Jan. 31, the Bison played the Wickliffe Blue Devils for the second time this season. The game started off close. At the end of the first quarter, the score was 17-16 with a Beachwood advantage, but the game ended up a blowout after John Davis III scored 39 points. The Bison won the game 75-57.
Next the Bison played the Independence Blue Devils. This game was uneven from the beginning. the Bison were victorious 83-57.
On Feb. 4, the Bison played the defending CVC champions, the Richmond Hts. Spartans. This was the second time the Bison played the Spartans, except this time it would be away. The game was close at the end of the first half. The Bison led 31-27. After halftime, both teams came out hot, the Bison having their highest scoring quarter of the game with 17 points and the Spartans with 14. The Bison went into the fourth quarter leading 48-41. The close game turned into domination by the Bison limiting Richmond Hts. to 3 points. The final score was 63-44, bringing Beachwood’s record to an impressive 15-2 for the season.
