Bison Football Reflects on Strong Season; Prepares for West Geauga Game

Bison Football Reflects on Strong Season; Prepares for West Geauga Game

In spite of losing the last two games, Bison football  has had a strong season with a record of 6 wins and 3 losses.

A  contributing factor to their strong play is the increased determination of the team during practice and games. As a whole, the team has been exceptional, with a strong offense and a formidable defense.

The team’s running game has shined brightly these past few games.

“We have two fantastic running backs,  and our quarterback is also—we consider him a running back,” commented varsity center Armani Smith, “Our offensive line—we’ve been working together for about three years, we’re pretty solid”.

The varsity defense stepped up during the team’s win streak by only giving up two touchdowns over a total of 5 games.

The team said that their coaches also contributed a lot to their winning season. “We’ve been following their lead, and it’s been pretty successful”, said varsity lineman Rob Goldberg.

“Coach Williams, he’s an amazing guy, Coach Bickle, Coach Schoen, Coach Johnson—all the coaches, they’ve been doing a great job”, he also said.

Coach Ryan Williams firmly believes in the value of practice, urging all the team members to focus during practice.

“What you do in practice is what you do in the game,” stated Williams.

Before the game against Kirtland, Captain Noah Mitchell professed his desire to make it all the way to the playoffs.

“We wanna make the playoffs, so we should win our last two games”, said team captain Noah Mitchell, “I’m trying to get the team to have confidence in our goals—I think it’s possible”.

In Coach Williams’ opinion, the mental aspect is one of the most challenging obstacles that the team needs to face, both in practice and against tough opponents.

“Football is just as much mental as it is physical”, said Williams.

The Bison were so close to reaching playoffs this past weekend with a 12-0 lead in the first half, but fumbled in the second half for a final score of 20-18 to Kirtland.

If they win the final game against West Geauga next week, the Bison still have the opportunity to compete in the playoffs.
