The Beachwood boys’ tennis team won a match against Cloverleaf on April 24 with a score of 4-1, bringing the team to a 4-5 record.
Cloverleaf is led by the fourth ranked player in the state, Jacob Dunbar.
Senior captains Dylan Heiser and Ellis Cohen are proud of their team, which works very hard, practicing from 3:30 to 5:00 with about three matches per week. Practice usually consists of challenging each other by pitching tennis balls and serving them back to teammates, plus drills.
Players include freshmen Alex Machtay and Kaustav Malik, sophomores Karan Gill and Daniel Rodriguez, juniors Brock Hersch and Andrew Romanoff and senior Louie Rosenbaum.
“Probably me, Ellis, Andrew, Karan and Machtay [are the strongest players],” said Heiser.
In college, Cohen will not be playing tennis at the University of Wisconsin, but Heiser is considering joining the Tennis Club at Elon. Heiser believes the team will go far this year.
The tennis season will last at least until the team reaches sectionals on May 9th.
