On Friday night in Kirtland, the Beachwood Bison football team’s playoff hopes were pushed to the brink as the Bison fell to the Hornets 33-0.
The Bison met an ominous sign as they took the field. Kirtland’s giant beat the Bison poster ripped clean in half. From the start of the game, Kirtland controlled the tempo as they ripped off multiple runs of 20 plus yards and took an early six to nothing lead. Beachwood had three chances to take the lead, but after failing to score from inside the Kirtland twenty-yard line and missing two open receivers that would have had a great chance to score, the Hornets took over the game opening to an 18-0 lead at the half. A pick six on Beachwood’s opening drive in the second half sealed the game for the Hornets.
The loss drops the Bison to 6-2(4-1) as the Hornets improved to 8-0(5-0). Currently sitting at 11th in the rankings, the Bison will need to climb three spots in the next two weeks to claw their way into the playoffs. The remaining schedule for the Bison is at Cuyahoga Hts (7-1) and home against West Geauga (6-2).
