Homecoming was sweet for the Bison on Saturday afternoon.
The Beachwood football team manhandled the Richmond Heights Spartans, ending in a 49-20 home conference win for the Bison.
Quarterback Alex Hohl only played the first-half, but that was enough for him to score on offense and defense. Hohl rushed for a 17-yard touchdown and on the next possession for the Spartans he forced a fumble, recovered it, and ran it in for another touchdown. Both Ari and Howard Sobel rushed for touchdowns along with Brandon Rotsky, all before halftime.
At the break the Bison were leading 42-0 and in the second half they cleared the bench, which led to Richmond Heights’ three late touchdowns. Ari Sobel was “happy with the win,” but commented that “we still have a lot to fix before we take on Independence next week.”
The Bison improved to 3-1 (1-0) while the Spartans fell to 1-3 (0-1). Next week the Bison will head to Independence to play the Blue Devils who Beachwood has never beaten in football.
Many bison fans feel like this could be the year, and with a win they would be only a victory over Cuyahoga Heights away from clinching at least a share of the CVC title.
