Students will vote Friday for Homecoming Queen. The top three contestants are Hannah Cantlie, Kayla Harrison and Brianna Weisman. The Beachcomber interviewed each of them.

Describe your top twelve wakeup.

It was rather hectic. The boys ambushed my room blasting some rap song from a beats pill, and Ben Hendlin was wearing a Chewbacca costume.

Were you surprised when you were announced as part of the top three?

Yeah, I was very surprised. Everyone was so kind and supportive when it was announced.

What do you plan to do if you’re elected homecoming queen?

Oh, dear…I don’t think that’s gonna happen. I’d just tell people to be nice to each other.

What are your interests/What activities are you involved in?

Soccer, lacrosse, being with family and friends, Parks and Rec and eating wheat thins.

If there was a movie made about your life, what would your character’s catch phrase be?

“Oh dear Lanta”

What would you do for a Klondike bar?

I would pay for it with a nice tip for the nice individual who sold it to me.

What is something you’d like to tell your voters?

Thanks for being so kind and generous with your votes. I appreciate it, and I hope you have fun at the dance. If not, I’ll make sure to jazz up the party with some fun dance moves.

Kayla Harrison

Describe your top twelve wakeup.

My mom came in my room and asked if I was dressed. I said no, so she told me to stay where I was. Then a stampede of people came in, yelling that I was in top twelve. It was honestly terrifying. I had no idea what was going on.

Were you surprised when you were announced as part of the top three?

Yeah; I thought I could maybe make it to six, but definitely not top three.

What do you plan to do if you’re elected Homecoming Queen?

Do we have any power? (No). Ok, so I’d bring a selfie stick and take a big group picture at the dance if I’m elected.

What are your interests? What activities are you involved in?

I play softball year-round, business club, ASL, Amnesty International, GSA, shopping and Council for Exceptional Children.

If there was a movie made about your life, what would your character’s catch phrase be?

“Sweet baby Jesus!”

What is your favorite song?

The entire The Weeknd album.

I don’t drink pop.

What would you do for a Klondike bar?

For an OREO one…I’d probably [resort to extreme measures].

Brianna Weisman

What was your top twelve wakeup like?

It was really chaotic…I was covered in silly string. I didn’t know what was happening, and I’m pretty sure Anna Post jumped in my bed.

Were you surprised when you were announced as part of the top three?

Very, because you never think you’re going to be nominated, and then you are.

What do you plan to do if you’re elected homecoming queen?

Get [crazy] on the dance floor.

President of SAY, dance, friends, dog and family
