Freshmen Dar’Jon Bentley and Matthew Aubourg had the opportunity to attend the “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” premier in downtown Cleveland on April 1.

World studies teacher Greg Deegan made this opportunity available to them.

“Mr. Deegan knows the directors [Joe and Anthony Russo], so he said I can email them and tell them why I like them so much,” Bentley said. “I emailed them, and they liked what I wrote. They sent me and Mr. Deegan two tickets to the premiere.”

Deegan knows the Russo brothers from high school.

“I am such a big fan of those directors because they make all the movies I like,” Bentley said.

Bentley and Aubourg also got to meet and speak to the directors.

“It was amazing because [the brothers] gave me so much good advice about many things including directing,” he said. “I told him that I like to write screenplays, and I want to become an actor or director when I’m older. They gave me great advice.”

After meeting the Russo brothers, Bentley feels even more inspired to pursue his interest in film.

“I want to go into film because I get to let other people see the creativity I have. I can express this creativity in the form of motion pictures,” Bentley said.

Bentley enjoyed the film.

“The movie was amazing, it was better than the Avengers. Captain America is my favorite Avenger anyway so either way I would have enjoyed the movie,” he said.
