In the last few weeks, construction workers have installed a temporary hallway between the north gym and the 100 / 200 wing where the English, foreign language and social studies departments are located.

Principal Robert Hardis explained that this hallway cost approximately $50,000. This cost included pouring cement, cutting through the wall of the 100 hallway, as well as the materials and labor of construction. Hardis explained that the need to meet fire and building code increased the cost.

Fire safety regulations require three sets of exit doors and a roof that is structurally sound to handle the weight of snow. This helps to keep the inside dry to avoid slipper conditions due to ice in the winter.

This hallway will only serve its purpose for one year. In 2013, 100/200 classrooms will move to new portions of the school and the temporary hallway will be torn down.
