A new meme has been circulating on social media these past few months, bringing Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNAF) fans together.

The horror video game created in 2014 allows players to portray a security guard who tries to survive while being attacked by an animatronic.

However, the song “Jackie’s Box ” – FNAF Mimic made by XTRATUNA and uploaded on Dec. 1, 2024, has been blasted by many fans for the terrible lyrics, beat and vulgar language.

XTRATUNA made this song to get fans hyped up about a new FNAF game called “Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic,” coming out on June 13.

However, many fans dismissed the song as silly, believing it has nothing to do with FNAF lore, but in fact it does.

The Mimic is an animatronic who is able to mimic what one does. For example if someone says “I love math” and dabs,  the mimic also says “I love math” and dabs.

The song starts off with a circus sound that many people are familiar with, and has many different characters singing or rapping.  It starts with the mimic, then Edwin, back to mimic, then to David, then back to mimic. The song contains questionable lyrics and confusion.

However, what made the song very big was during Edwin’s part when he said “My name is Edwin. I made the mimic” and David’s part “My name is David. Dad, I want some ice cream. David.” However, many fans don’t know that there are books about FNAF and the Mimic does in fact connect to the lore.

During the first verse he explains about the Mimic and his violent action. For example “So, in my factory, you will be doomed.”

Many fans have no clue about the Mimic. The reason the Mimic is violent is because Edwin Murray, the creator of the Mimic, made the Mimic to mimic actions. Edwin destroyed the Mimic, and so the Mimic learned from his creator.

Then in the second verse it is Edwin talking. Many people started to make a meme of Edwin, but he’s important and was added because he created the Mimic. Then there is the Chorus saying “It’s Time to run and hide. No time to fight.” This just explains the Mimic’s victims and how violent the Mimic is.

There is the third chorus about David Murray, Edwin’s son. This verse explains that David died from being hit by a car, which is why he screams at the end of his line.

The fourth verse is similar to the first verse of the Mimic being violent.

The song was originally supposed to help with the Mimic lore, but ended up as a meme and reference. I hope that readers will look at the lyrics and appreciate the song rather than just make fun of it.
