The track team competed at the state tournament on May 30 to June 1 at Welcome Stadium in Dayton.

Bison athletes qualified in four individual events as well as the girls 4×100 meter relay.

Senior Dakota Houston finished 2nd in the 200 meter and 8th in the 100 meter run.

Sophomore Sasha Kheyfets finished 8th in the 3200 meter.

Senior Madison Torbert finished 16th in shot put.

The 4x100m relay of Dakota Houston, Ambyr Paul, Marley Readance and Kylie Walters finished 10th in preliminaries.

The team dominated the CVC meet at West Geauga on May 8 with both boys and girls teams winning the conference.

Dakota Houston placed in four events, with first place in the long jump as well as the 100 meter and 200 meter. She placed 2nd in the 400 meter. Osita Ogor led the boys, placing first in the 100 meter and 200 meter.

Houston, having devoted a solid four years to the high school track team and being a mentor for two years, spoke about what the team has meant to her.

“This team has been incredible throughout my four years of being here,” she said. “The growth and development of the team as a whole has been amazing, and almost everyone has achieved personal records. We’ve won CVCs for both girls and boys, and it’s just been so amazing with this family.”
