On the evening of April 24, the Beachwood Board of Education voted unanimously to approve a two-year contract for Tony Srithai to become the new BHS principal.

Srithai recently moved to Ohio from North Carolina, where he not only grew up, but also attended college and graduate school at UNC Chapel Hill, and held multiple administrative positions and taught science for four years in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools.

He was one of nearly seventy applicants who originally applied for the BHS principal job, and seems very excited to have been deemed the best choice in the eyes of the Board of Education.

“It was a long and thorough process to get this job,” Srithai said. “But I’m very excited and grateful for the opportunity to be the new principal of BHS.”

Srithai doesn’t plan on wasting time in getting to know the community and students in Beachwood.

“As a leader, I want to be as visible as possible,” he said. “Spending time in classes and having face to face time with students.”

Even though Srithai was just approved by the Board of Education, James Reed III still remains BHS’s principal for the remainder of the 2016-2017 school year. Srithai assumes the job at the start of the 2017-2018 school year.
