One thing veteran BHS students noticed after stepping into school on Aug. 29 was the absence of locks on the lockers. Beachcomber investigations revealed the cause: a mistake during shipping.
Many students were used to seeing locks attached to lockers and were surprised when they received new, removable locks upon reception of their locker combinations. Did this signal the end of the days when locks were conveniently attached to the lockers? Assistant Principal Paul Chase says no.
“The company made a mistake with the shipment of the locks,” he said. The locks currently being used are temporary, and Chase is waiting for the permanent ones to be delivered.
“They’re supposed to arrive sometime between late-Sept. and early-Oct.,” Chase said.
Students may not mind the hassle with the locks so much, since the new lockers are more convenient than the old ones.
“These new lockers are wider than the old ones, so students should have more room to place their things; coats can be hung inside, and athletes can store most of their sporting equipment inside as well,” said Chase.
