American Sign Language students and teacher Sharon Weisman hosted the annual ASL party on Dec. 13.
Senior Maxie Novinc, a student in the ASL class said, “It’s for the hard of hearing and the deaf community.”
The community that Novinc referred to turned out to be large. About 400 people were expected, and approximately that many members of the deaf and hard of hearing community were present.
As people arrived in the south gym they were greeted with food, music, and activities. There were donated sandwiches from Chick Fil-A, a cotton candy machine as well as lots of candy and drinks. Some activities that were included were face painting, tattoos, movies, a photo booth and a sucker pull.
The party lasted from 11 am until 2 pm, and everyone left with a smile on their face.
