The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has engulfed the region since before Israel’s founding in 1948. Conflict intensified when Israel gained control of the Palestinian occupied regions of the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and the Golan Heights, as a result of the Six-Day War. Israeli settlement building in these areas has been condemned by the UN and the EU. Meanwhile, Palestinian terrorists have sent suicide bombers and launched rockets into Israel. As Israel makes headlines with Obama’s recent visit and its approaching 65th birthday, the Beachcomber poses the question:
