“I don’t know what to expect,” said sophomore Eva Muschkin, as she walked into the cafeteria on the night of February 5th. Backstage in the Bistro, cast and crew anxiously awaited their cues.
“I am so excited! We have an audience!” said senior Lindsay Bialosky. In the kitchen, plates of cheesecake, cupcakes, and double chocolate cake were prepared by student waiters and waitresses. This was the beginning of BHS’s first Cabaret Nite in many years, a variety show hosted by the BHS Drama Club.
The entire night was a success, from the setting to the desserts to the performances. A mix of comical and musical talents kept the audience engaged, and the desserts were delicious.
One crowd favorite was the Bellylaughers Society. Kitchen manager and Bellylaugher Ori Friedman described the routine as “all improv off the top of our heads from suggestions from the audience,” where anything can happen. Other notable acts were “Sometimes Love Comes Around” sung by Klarissa Martinez and Vance Coles and the finale, “Don’t Stop Believing” performed by the entire cast.
Cabaret Nite 2010 was certainly a night to be remembered.
